Firstly, thank you all so much for travelling to be with us today. You have travelled from near and far to be here (Sprout included!), and we are so grateful and delighted to have you all here with us.

This book was an early favourite of Barry’s, one of the first books he chose to read himself, a book he would devour repeatedly and one that kick-started his interest in fantasy books.

Rebecca remembers the long drive from Joburg to Plet, with her grandmother reading out of a hardback edition with beautiful illustrations on the front cover. This story would make the long 12 hour drive last minutes, as everyone in the car was part of a larger journey, to the Lonely Mountain to face a dragon.

Not only that, but this book also taught us both valuable life lessons, such as: It does not do to leave a live dragon out of your calculations, if you live near him.
